I recently had the opportunity to spend some time in Little Rock, Arkansas, and had a chance to capture some of the beauty of the area.  This is Junction Bridge, which spans the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock.  I had been looking for a spot to shoot a sunset looking down the river, and was packing up to leave the bridge when these lights came on.  I was previously unaware the bridge was lit, and was happy to unpack and spend some more time there on that pleasant evening.  The lights cycled in different patterns of colors, so it took a while to find the pattern I liked best,.  I had to time the shot to capture the desired position as the colors traveled down the bridge.  I took a number of shots, but this was a favorite.
I entered this shot in a bi-monthly photography contest sponsored by the Spartanburg Photography Guild, and it won first place against stiff competition.  It is reaffirming and humbling to have your art voted best by your peers.  One cool point about this photograph is that there has been no photo retouching done on it.  This is straight from the camera, and accurately represents what I actually saw that night.  Simply a magic moment.
